This week in Plymouth
Hi All! I hope everyone is having a great week. Lots of fun happenings to attend and look forward to so let’s get into it!

Founded in 1824 on the shores of Plymouth Harbor, the Plymouth Cordage Company grew to become the largest rope manufacturer in the world. Its visionary founder, Bourne Spooner, was an abolitionist who built the company on free labor and progressive employee policies, earning national trust with the slogan “Plymouth, the rope you can trust.” The company expanded into Canada in 1904, weathered wars and depressions without filing bankruptcy, and remained debt-free until a hostile takeover in 1965. Today, its legacy lives on at the Plymouth Cordage Museum, where over 2,000 artifacts tell the story of industrial innovation and community pride. You can visit the museum on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday between 12:00pm-4:00pm (info).

Get ready for a celestial show! The waxing gibbous Moon will light up the sky at 70% fullness, and early risers can catch Venus, Saturn, and even elusive Mercury just before dawn. Mars and Jupiter are visible after sunset, while Neptune and Uranus may require binoculars and a bit of luck. Best of all? The Eta Aquarid meteor shower peaks this week—step outside after midnight for a chance to spot some shooting stars streaking across Plymouth’s sky.
