This week in Plymouth
Hi All! I hope everyone is having a great week and is looking forward to the long weekend!
Trail of the Week: South Shore Heritage Trail
From Weymouth to Plymouth, the South Shore Irish Heritage Trail offers a journey into the lives of the Irish immigrants who shaped coastal Massachusetts. Inspired by Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Trail, this route weaves through nine towns where families fleeing famine and hardship built new lives and left a lasting mark. Along the way are monuments to their struggles, sites of the industries they created, and seaside retreats that earned the region the nickname “The Irish Riviera.”
Today, their descendants make up nearly 40% of the South Shore’s population. The Trail honors this legacy—the “green thread” in the region’s fabric—seen in the many who served in public life, from the Civil War through to modern-day communities. For more information on the trail and to plan your visit, the full information is linked here .
