Trail of the Week: Bare Cove Park in Hingham

Tucked along the banks of the Weymouth Back River in Hingham, Bare Cove Park is a 484-acre sanctuary that blends natural beauty with fascinating history. Once a U.S. Navy ammunition depot (1906–1971), the land was later transformed into a public park, preserving its shoreline, wetlands, open fields, and woodlands for all to enjoy. Today, visitors may spot coyote, fox, or deer while exploring the many miles of paved roadways and woodland paths—perfect for walking, jogging, bicycling, or simply soaking up the peaceful river views.
