Plymouth Pod #44

This week in Plymouth County.

Hi all! Happy Thanksgiving week! I hope you’re gearing up for some time with family and friends — and, of course, plenty of delicious food. I’m grateful for each of you and so glad you’re part of the pod. Thanks for being here and let’s get into it!

Trail of the Week: Whitney & Thayer Woods + Turkey Hill (Cohasset/Hingham)

Once part of a private estate assembled in the early 1900s, Whitney and Thayer Woods now offer more than 600 acres of classic New England forest dotted with impressive glacial erratics. Highlights include Ode’s Den—named for a 19th-century hermit who lived beneath the boulders—Bigelow Boulder, and a serene grove of American holly. In spring, the Milliken Memorial Path bursts with rhododendrons and azaleas from a 1920s “wild garden.” Adjacent Turkey Hill adds 62 more acres and a 187-foot summit with sweeping views of Cohasset Harbor; look for the remains of a Cold War–era radar station near the top. A perfect blend of natural beauty, history, and quiet surprises. Info to plan your visit.
