Plymouth Pod #51
This week in Plymouth County.
Hi All! The past few weeks have flown by and I feel like I’m just getting into the swing of 2026. I hope everyone’s year is off to a strong start.
Thank you for completing the end of year member feedback form - I appreciate it! There are a lot of upcoming happenings so make sure to plan ahead for some of these ticketed events.
See you out there and let’s get into it!
Trail of the Week: Cow Tent Hill Preserve (Duxbury)
Tucked along both sides of the Duck Hill River in Duxbury’s Millbrook area, Cow Tent Hill Preserve offers a peaceful mix of wooded uplands and scenic tidal marshes. The loop trail winds through breezy white pine forest, descends to the river’s edge—where you may spot Red-winged Blackbirds and Marsh Wrens—and then rises over gentle knolls to the hill’s crest before circling back. Highlights include sweeping views across Duxbury Marsh and a barrier-free stretch near the entrance with a bench overlooking the river. Be mindful of steeper, sometimes slippery sections and abundant poison ivy, and enjoy this quiet spot for hiking, dog walking, wildlife watching, and photography. Plan your visit here.

Night Sky
Enjoy a long winter night with over 14½ hours of darkness. A thin waning crescent Moon (about 22% illuminated) sets the scene, with sunset at 4:34 pm and full darkness after 5:39 pm. Jupiter is the standout tonight, shining brightly and visible almost all night long. Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune can be spotted after sunset (binoculars recommended for the latter two), while Mercury, Venus, and Mars remain lost in the Sun’s glare.
