Fireworks win in landslide...
Happy Tuesday! I hope folks had a great April school break. This is a lighter week events wise, but lots of other goodness packed inside. Let’s get into it!

July 3rd T-Shirts
The votes are in and the fireworks shirt won in a landslide! The designer is working on the final version so I’m excited to share that hopefully next week. Pre-orders will open in short order - stay tuned!

Tides & Tails
Night Sky: The Moon is building back up this week, rolling in at a Waxing Gibbous 85.9% and heading toward full. Venus is your showstopper this week, hanging bright in the western sky after sunset. A little fun fact this week: the Sun will set in the exact same spot on April 29 and August 12 this year. Eclipse watchers in Spain are actually using that alignment to scout the perfect viewing location for the 2026 total solar eclipse.

Trail of the Week: Stewart/Person Preserve (Kingston)
History, geology, and some seriously good wildlife watching come together at the Stewart/Person Preserve in Kingston. This pine-covered gem traces all the way back to the Ice Age. The steep, rolling hills you'll hike are actually eskers, ancient ridges left behind by glacial meltwater thousands of years ago. Pretty wild to think about while you're catching your breath at the top! The preserve winds past three ponds (Bryant Mill Pond, Sylvia Place Pond, and Russell Pond) where you might spot Osprey and Great Blue Herons fishing, or catch a glimpse of otter tracks along the brook. Birders will love it here too, with Baltimore Orioles, Scarlet Tanagers, and Wood Ducks all calling this place home. Keep an eye out for red fox and mink roaming the white pine woods. The terrain is moderately hilly with some exposed roots and rocks, so watch your step, but the payoff views over the ponds are absolutely worth it.
